Who is Goddess Mahagauri?

Goddess Mahagauri is depicted as extremely fair, dressed in white or green, riding a white bull, and holding a trident and a damaru (drum). She symbolizes purity, tranquility, and peace and is often associated with the forgiving aspect of divinity.

Symbolism and Significance

Worshipping Goddess Mahagauri purifies the souls of her devotees, erasing past sins and imperfections. Her followers believe that she endows them with inner peace and a calm mind. She is also associated with the powerful energy of rejuvenation and renewal.

Celebrating Goddess Mahagauri

On this day, devotees wear white to symbolize purity and may undertake fasts. Special prayers and pujas are performed, and the atmosphere is filled with devotional music and chants.

Guidelines for Eight Day Sadhana: Sri Devi Mahagauri

•Do It everyday at same place and same time

• Sit on a woollen mat (you can also use chair but keep woolen mat below your feet) in a quiet place in a comfortable position with spine kept straight and facing east or north for the meditation.

• Chant OM Nine times to balance you energy centers in the body

• Do deep breathing for 3–5 minutes

  • Imagine divine mother Durga at your Ajna Chakra (in between the eyebrows) and worship mentally by offering flowers while chanting mantra. Chant the mantra for 108 times or 15- 30 min as given below:

“Om Hreem shreem Mahagauri Durgaaye namaha Om Hreem Dum Durgaaye namaha”

ॐ ह्रीं श्रीं महागौरी दुर्गायै नमः ॐ ह्रीं दुं दुर्गायै नमः
