Who is Goddess Skandamata?

Goddess Skandamata is depicted as a four-armed deity, holding her son Skanda in her lap, signifying the maternal aspect of the divine. She rides a ferocious lion, depicting her courage and fierceness.

Symbolism and Significance

Worshipping Skandamata is said to bestow wisdom, power, prosperity, and salvation. She embodies the nurturing side of the Goddess, teaching us about the power of motherhood and the balance between mercy and justice.

Celebrating Goddess Skandamata

Devotees offer prayers and perform rituals, often including the offering of pumpkins, which is believed to be her favorite. The day is associated with the color green, signifying growth and nature.

Guidelines for Fifth Day Sadhana : Sri Devi Skandamata

•Do It everyday at same place and same time

• Sit on a woollen mat (you can also use chair but keep woolen mat below your feet) in a quiet place in a comfortable position with spine kept straight and facing east or north for the meditation.

• Chant OM Nine times to balance you energy centers in the body

• Do deep breathing for 3–5 minutes

• Imagine divine mother Durga at your Ajna Chakra (in between the eyebrows) and worship mentally by offering flowers while chanting mantra. Chant the mantra for 108 times or 15- 30 min as given below:

“Om Hreem shreem Skandamata Durgaaye namaha Om Hreem Dum Durgaaye namaha”

ॐ ह्रीं श्रीं स्कंदमाता दुर्गायै नमः ॐ ह्रीं दुं दुर्गायै नमः
