
The Ganesha Chaturthi also known as Vinayaka Chaturthi marks the auspicious birth anniversary of Lord Ganesha, widely revered as the harbinger of prosperity and the remover of obstacles. This significant occasion falls on Shukla Chaturthi, the fourth day of the waxing moon phase in the Vedic month of Bhadrapada.
Sacred puja on Vinayaka Chaturthi :
According to “Mudgala Purana”, an ancient text on Lord Ganesha, thirty two forms of Ganesha are believed to occur. Haridra Ganpati is one of them. The word Haridra means “Turmeric”. Haridra Ganpati is made out of “Turmeric roots” and considered very lucky and auspicious. Haridra Ganpati is a very auspicious and powerful form of Lord Ganesha. He is a deity who worshipped for wealth, prosperity, success, and the removal of obstacles.
Upasana & Puja of Haridra Ganapati:
A highly recommended practice is creating a Ganapati idol using turmeric and offering sweets as prayers.
Guideline
Before you begin, lay the turmeric on a large plate or tray, scribble your desires upon it using your fingers. Next, sprinkle water to activate Jupiter’s positive energies, forming a paste to craft the Ganapati idol.
After a few days, the Turmeric Ganapati can be dissolved, with the resultant water nourishing plants.

A Simple 5 Step Offering to Haridra Ganapati :
- Light a lamp to acknowledge the Fire element (associated with Sun, Mars, and Ketu).
- Offer an incense stick or dhoop to recognize the Air element (linked to Saturn and Rahu).
- Offer water and modaks as a tribute to the Water element (connected to Moon and Venus).
- Offer flowers as a gesture to honor the Space element (associated with Jupiter).
- Smear Sandalwood paste on the deity to honor the Earth element (symbolized by Mercury).
Manta chanting and meditation:
The one who do upasana & puja of Haridra ganapati idol is blessed with success in his work, business, undertaking & desires. Rosary of bulbs of turmeric should be used for Mantra meditation. Yellow clothes and yellow colour asana should be used. 108 repetitions. “Om Haridra Ganapatye Namah” & “Om Hum Gum Glaum”. Haridra Ganapati is worshipped for wealth and well-being.
Meditation on the Muladhara Chakra:
Now sit quietly and do meditation. During this time you also focus on the Muladhara Chakra situated at the base of the spine. Pay homage to Lord Ganesha with the Lam Bija Mantra, you can repeat the sound “Lam” 108 times.

The benefits of Chaturthi fasting include material progress, happiness, and prosperity. The importance of Chaturthi vrat was explained by Lord Krishna to Yudhishtira. It is also mentioned in the Narasimha Purana and Bhavishya Purana. It removes the obstacle and creates favorable situations for success. It brings Knowledge, wealth, and fulfillment of desire. It also minimizes the malefic effect caused by planet Mercury. Worshiping Lord Ganesha on Chaturthi provides powerful benefits. Chanting mantra “Om Gam Ganapataye Namaha” helps in fulfillment of all wishes.
